HALLOWEEN IN OMAN (by Lena Matijašević V4)
I do not know when and why Halloween started but I really like it. It is kind of spooky but I really like it. I usually get very scared but I love it because of that.
When I lived in Oman we were celebrating Halloween at school. We were preparing candies and costumes like one week before Halloween. When it was finally the first of November we usually went to school very late because we had to prepare all the candies and costumes. When we finally got to school we were always sitting in a circle till the bell rang because then the games were starting. Some of the games were: catching apples from a barrel, seeing whose costume was the best or the scariest or drawing creepy things with henna on hands. My favorite game was trick-or-treating from classroom to classroom and getting a lot of yummy candy. After a special dance that everyone danced we went to our classes and we drew some creepy drawings. When we finished drawing we took photos of us and our drawings and then we put them on the school website. Then we made ghosts of paper, glue, aquarelle and clay. After that we read creepy books like IT, The book of life and Tales of the Peculiar. After that we went outside and we sang Halloween songs like Lullaby, Halloween Halloween, Trick-or-treat and Monster mash. When we finished everything we went home but our teachers always gave us some homework. That homework was always to write a story about that day. I always loved doing homework because I was recalling all the fun stuff I was doing during the day. The next day we went to school normally but we read our stories to our teacher and then to the other classes. After that we went to the pool and at the pool we talked about creepy books and creepy things we read. Then we went back to our class and we made some costumes for Halloween for cats and dogs.
Before we went home we took photos of those fabulous days. When we got home we were always looking at those photos.
I’m always very sad when Halloween finishes because I always have a lot of fun on those days. I am always looking forward for the next Halloween.
